About Smeding

Certifications

Every day we ensure that the customer gets what they need. We can rely on our growers and our employees, and therefore the customer can rely on Smeding Vegetables and Fruit. We strictly select our growers and suppliers; we only work with those who possess GFSI recognized certificates. These various certifications guarantee the quality of our products, services, business operations and processes.

Skal

Smeding is Skal certified. With this certification, we are allowed to store and distribute organic fruits and vegetables. As a supervisory body, Skal is committed to demonstrable reliability of organic products in the Netherlands. An agricultural product or food item may only be called organic if the production process complies with legal regulations. With Smeding’s Skal certificate, you can be sure that an organic product is truly organic!

BRC S&D

The BRC S&D (storage and distribution) certificate applies to companies that provide storage and distribution of food products. This certificate ensures that we receive fruits and vegetables of the right quality and under the right conditions. And that we maintain the quality and conditions until delivery to the customer. The BRC S&D certificate demonstrates that Smeding meets these conditions.

Fairtrade

Smeding is Fairtrade certified, demonstrating that we operate under Fairtrade conditions. Fairtrade aims to promote sustainable development and reduce poverty through fairer trade. View the Fairtrade certificate here.

RIK

RIK stands for Internal Quality Control Regulations. It involves recording the quality registrations of fruits and vegetables for which there are statutory European quality standards. Smeding has good control results. We also have a quality care system for fruits and vegetables. This system complies with the KCB quality code. During the annual audit, this system is checked. Global G.A.P CoC [Chain of Custody]

This certificate is designed for packaging stations and traders in the chain, with the aim of ensuring seamless traceability from the grower to the consumer through a single set of certificates. This creates more transparency.

For all links in the chain, it applies that they purchase products from companies certified according to Global GAP standards. The GGN number of both growers and certified companies is important for demonstrating the origin.
