Smeding is aware of its role in society. As one of the larger business partners in Potatoes, Vegetables and Fruit (AGF) in the Netherlands, we want to set a good example. The objectives in our quality policy focus on several pillars.
Respect for the Environment
Smeding handles the environment and the raw materials and resources we use in our company with care. We do this through waste separation and reduction, efficient transport management, prevention of environmental pollution, and by not unnecessarily using energy, water, and paper.
Compliance with Environmental Legislation
Smeding complies with legal requirements and guidelines in the field of environment. We continuously strive to reduce unnecessary and environmentally unfriendly packaging, ensure a safe working environment for employees, and meet the requirements regarding maintenance and use of refrigerants in installations.
Sustainability/CSR Suppliers
Together with our suppliers, we look for opportunities to gain an advantage over competition through the use of ‘green’ technology. Additionally, we expand our assortment with organic, eco-label, local, and fair trade products. In this way, we try to contribute to sustainable development, including the health and well-being of society.
Continuous Improvement
We work on structurally reducing environmental impact. We consider this important. Every year, we formulate departmental objectives and strive to discuss the progress of these objectives with the management and management team every quarter.
